JUSTIFICATION
MEMORY VERSE : Being justified by faith, we have peace with God. Romans 5:1.
BIBLE PASSAGE: Romans 5:1-21
INTRODUCTION: Many people confuse justification with forgiveness. They are two different things. Justification is more than forgiveness: to justify means to declare righteous. The law and justice of God demands death as the penalty for sin. (Ezek. 18:4) but the mercy of God wants to rescue the sinner from death. (Ezek. 33:11). But then God has said that He will not justify the wicked (Ex. 23:7) and that any human judge who justifies the wicked shall be punished. (Isa. 5:22-23). Therefore God looked for a way to justify the sinner without justifying his sin. He found the solution in Jesus Christ who volunteered to live a righteous life and die a sinner’s death so that His own righteousness could then be given as a gift to any one who believes in Him.
WHAT ARE INVOLVED IN JUSTIFICATION?
Two major things are included in justification. The first one is that not only is the sin forgiven but also the guilt and punishment of that sin is removed far from the sinner. (Micah 7:18-19). In other words, God forgets and totally forgets.
Secondly, the righteousness of Jesus Christ is credited to the sinner’s account. (Roman 3:22). The perfect, holy righteousness of God is given to the sinner through faith in Jesus Christ.
HOW IS JUSTIFICATION OBTAINED?
God is the author and Giver of justification Rom. 8:33 and He gives it (a) by grace (Rom. 3:24), (b) by the Blood of Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:9) and (c) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Rom. 4:25). That is,
it is God who justifies but it is Christ that makes justification.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE JUSTIFICATION?
To receive justification, you have only two things to do. One, have faith, that is believe that Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins. That it is those terrible sins of yours that sent Him to the cross to die a most cruel death (Gal. 2:16). If you firmly believe this, that your Saviour had to suffer so much because you sinned so much, then if you will feel very sorry for your past evil deeds and you will take the next step; which is to cry to the Lord for mercy (Lk. 8:13-14). Therefore, if you want to be justified, believe that Jesus Christ died for you and call on God to be merciful on you a miserable sinner.
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM JUSTIFIED?
There are many evidences of justification. We shall name three of them (a) Your works will show if you have been justified or not (James 2:21-28). By faith we are justified, but after that we will live a righteous life which is made manifest by good works. (b) You will have peace with God. (Rom. 5:1). Since your sins are forgiven and you are declared righteous by God. (c) Himself, there is no need to fear for any further punishment from God. (c). you will have access to God. (Rom. 5:2). Praying and talking with God will become a joy instead of a boring task.
Are you already justified? Does your prayer life confirm it? If not, there is still room for you to be justified, even today.
Yes,Today!
God bless you...
